The production version of the Mercedes-Benz SLC has been delayed because the new sports car will be just too expensive to battle with the Porsche 911.
After officially announcing just two months before writing this article that the Mercedes-Benz SLC will finally hit the production line, the German based automaker has apparently changed its mind and, according to the guys at the sports car will be delayed because its final production version would be just too expensive to tackle the new Porsche 911. This doesn’t mean that the development of the German sports car has stopped and we will never see it but the engineers don’t have any freedom and the baby SLS can’t get a green light for the moment.
Initial rumors were announcing that the Mercedes-Benz SLC will be powered by a new 4.0 liter V8 engine, but a smaller V6 unit, based on the one used in the new SLK, will also be offered. If the Mercedes-Benz SLC will finally get the green light for production and it will arrive in showrooms, it will go against the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the Porsche 911, and it will be price from 80,000 GBP. The Mercedes-Benz SLC should have entered production in 2014, as the company initially announced.
