Mercedes-Benz is planning to develop a smaller version of the SLS, which will probably be named the SLC, and it will go on sale in 2016.
Rumors on the German based automaker Mercedes-Benz working on a smaller version of the SLS have been around for more than one year but now we have an estimated release date. According to Auto Express, the new “Baby SLS” is expected to go on sale in 2016. The model in question will be slotted between the SLK and the SL and it will use a modified aluminum spaceframe of the SLS. The model will have the same front-engine rear-wheel drive layout.
The Mercedes-Benz SLC will rival Porsche’s 911 and unlike its larger brother, the SLS, which costs 170,000 GBP, the model will set you back for half that amount, at approximately 85,000 GBP. The new Mercedes-Benz SLC won’t get gullwing doors and the 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, but it will receive a variety of units under its hood, including the 4.0 liter turbocharged V8, which will power the next generation of the C63 AMG. The engine will provide approximately 480 HP.
