The design unit of Mercedes Benz has recently introduced the new Garia Golf Car, which is not only a design exercise as it could actually reach the production lines.
The styling is somewhat looking as if the Smart ForTwo Cabrio came back from the future, with the project being a joint development between Mercedes Benz Style and golf cart manufacturer Garia – their intention being to deliver a “new class of transport for the golf course.” Design wise, we noticed the interesting golf ball inspired grille that is flanked by LED headlights. This luxury golf cart also has a curved windshield, a carbon fiber roof, and five-spoke alloy wheels. Not that it matters much at the golf course speeds, but there’s also a carbon fiber diffuser as well as a rear spoiler. More importantly, out back there’s also an angled golf bag holder delivering easy access to your club of choice.
While the exterior recalls the Smart brand, the interior is a Mercedes affair. There’s a rather opulent lounge chair covered in premium leather upholstery. It’s not only for the looks because it also has a secret refrigerator compartment below the bench seat. There’s a bevy of premium materials – leather, wood, and carbon fiber trim. And there’s also a 10.1-inch infotainment system delivering vehicle information but also the course layout and the current score. Power comes from a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor with up to 14 horsepower – good for a maximum speed of 18.6 miles per hour and a top range of 49.7 miles.
