The brand new Mercedes-Benz GLE will be officially presented to the public during the 2015 New York Auto Show, as a company official recently admitted.
2015 will be the “Year of the SUV” at Mercedes-Benz as the company’s chairman, Dieter Zetsche, has recently announced. The car manufacturer has already pulled the wraps off the brand new GLE Coupe, a direct rival for the BMW X6, and it will now focus on the development of the regular version, the GLE. This is basically an ML with a modified name but in a new generation. The model will compete against the BMW X5, the Volkswagen Touareg, the Audi Q7 and other vehicles in the segment and we will see it at the 2015 New York Auto Show, as Dieter Zetsche said, in Detroit.
The brand new 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE will come with an updated exterior design which will have a lot of things in common with the GLE Coupe, but don’t expect the lowered roofline because this will be a more practical version. As far as the interior design goes, this will be similar to the one found on the GLE Coupe but with some styling tweaks. The engine lineup is expected to be shared with its brother too but do expect some new units which might even include four-cylinder ones (not confirmed for the moment). Besides these, a plug-in hybrid variant is also in the works. The new Mercedes-Benz GLE should be arriving in showrooms this autumn. More details on it remain unknown for the moment.
