Mercedes CLC Shooting Brake is approved for production image

Mercedes fans have a reason to celebrate with the auto maker announcing that the CLC Shooting Brake will hit the production line.

Based on the upcoming CLC Sedan and severely influenced by the CLS Shooting Brake Concept presented at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the new CLC Shooting Brake is a four-door coupe which will rival the Audi A5 Sportback and the upcoming BMW 3-Series GT.

The new model in Mercedes-Benz’s line-up will receive a heavily stylized tailgate continuing the design of the CLS Shooting Brake Concept and will be powered by a new range of four-cylinder direct-injection petrol engines.

No other official details about the new model were announced but the CLC Shooting Brake will most likely feature full LED headlights and the stop/start system which, along with the new generation of engines, will help improve CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

The CLC Shooting Brake is set to hit the production line in 2012 and will arrive in the US showrooms in 2013, along with the CLC coupe.
