Mercedes CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake premiered on the Nurburgring… catwalk image

The latest addition to the AMG stable, the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake, made its first public appearance at the German Grand Prix this past weekend.

But not on the track, as one might have imagined, but on the catwalk at the “Night of the Stars” event, during a staged fashion show.

The unusual presentation included other Mercedes-Benz models such as the new A-Class, the SLK 55 AMG, the SL 65 AMG “45th Anniversary” model and the new G 63 AMG. The cars were introduced by DTM racing drivers including Roberto Merhi, Christian Vietoris, Robert Wickens, Susie Wolff, Ralf Schumacher, Gary Paffett and Jamie Green.

The audience was packed with racing drivers as well, as Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg, David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen introduced the “Edition 1″ variant of the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake. During the presentation, it was revealed that Mercedes GP drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg helped assembling the M 157 V8 engine in the “Edition 1″ on a recent visit to AMG headquarters. As a consequence, the V8 engine is signed by the two F1 drivers on the AMG engine badge.

Sales of the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake and the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake “Edition 1″ will begin in October 2012 in Germany, with prices starting from €117,512.50 and €128,639 respectively.
