The German automaker is looking to remind us of the BMW X6 competitor – but we’re actually thinking they prepared this new version as a way to fend off the arrival of the Range Rover Velar above all else.
Mercedes and BMW can’t grace themselves to having the best-looking SUV-coupes out there, but at least they’re making up with massiveness – so anyone looking to make a statement could do no wrong here. Now the Mercedes example is also ready to stand out in a parking lot at the luxury shopping mall, thanks to this new special edition – which is oddly restrained for the type of statement these models are making. The new limited series can be had in black, grey, white, or silver shades and visual flourishes include the orange accents for the rims and front apron. The former are 21-inch alloy wheels from AMG’s catalogue and the model also has a standard black LED ring for the headlights.
Moving inside, the GLE Coupe OrangeArt Edition gets orange piping and grey topstitching for the sports seats, which are a mix of black Nappa leather and Dinamica microfiber – exclusive for this model – and there’s also more orange piping around, including on the AMG-stamped floor mats. There’s also aluminum trim, three-spoke steering in black Nappa leather, along with brushed stainless steel sports pedals. The new Mercedes GLE Coupe OrangeArt Edition also gets as standard perks the AMG Line exterior and Night packages, and can be optioned on the GLE 350d, GLE 400, and GLE 500 – as well as the sporty GLE 43.
