Mercedes-Benz must be very proud of its BMW X4 fighter because they keep teasing us about its upcoming introduction this Wednesday during the 2016 New York Auto Show.
Mercedes-Benz has outed yet another teaser image for the upcoming worldwide public introduction of the GLC Coupe crossover that is taking place on American soil in mere hours. The coupe-SUV niche is becoming a fully fledged segment as the competition intensifies and Mercedes wants to make sure it has models covering all the ends – we already have on the streets the massive GLE Coupe and the German automaker is not delivering a nimbler fighter – the GLC Coupe. The BMW X4 competitor is of course based on the new generation GLC compact SUV as the name implies – and Mercedes is prepping us for the big even with a digital sketch coming straight from the company’s official Facebook page.
Technical data is still a mystery, and though Mercedes claims the GLC Coupe is “the sports car among the SUVs,” we do know it will simply adopt the wide range of gasoline and diesel engines from the regular GLC. Once introduced, the flagship version will be the 2.0 turbo version with 241 horsepower. We can also expect the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe with its 3.0 turbo V6 to come to the party at a later date and the range-topping Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 Coupe with the known 4.0 biturbo V8 is also scheduled – most likely coming sometimes next year. Practicality will be an issue with the GLC Coupe but apparently once the back seats are folded down you’ll get some 56.5 cu. ft. (1,600 liters).
