Mercedes is planning on introducing yet another model on the resurrected Maybach brand, an SUV.
After officially pulling the wraps off the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, in its three versions, just a few weeks back, the car manufacturer is planning on introducing yet another luxury cruiser in the same Maybach range. The model in question will be an SUV which will have the tough job of going against some big names in the segment. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet, but according to the guys from Autocar, the vehicle has been hinted by Martin Hulder, the S-Class project manager.
“The theory is that we will do more Maybach models. But it will not be for all vehicles; any Maybach must make sense, because it is not just about putting an emblem on a car. Buyers rightly have high expectations of a Maybach, and we must be sure to always deliver on them”, said the company’s official to our source.
The next vehicle to receive the Maybach badges on its body is expected to be the Mercedes GLS, which will basically be a renamed GL, which will get a mid-cycle facelift in the near future and it might also receive the Maybach logos. The new GLS will be officially unveiled later on this year and its Maybach version should be getting a stretched wheelbase, following the recipe of the S-Class Maybach. More details on the model in question are limited at this time and will probably be announced at an international auto show, this year.
