According to anonymous sources, Mercedes’ roomier and bigger C class model will compete with the BMW 3 Series and the redesigned Audi A4.
The German automaker will unveil the fourth-generation C-class sedan in 2014 at the Detroit auto show and it is expected to go on sale next summer. The C-class sedan will most likely resemble the redesigned Mercedes S-class flagship which will hit the German market in July and it will based on a new rear-wheel-drive architecture.
The model will be 4699 mm (185 inches) long, which means more rear seat room and it will come with three body styles. Mercedes will also prepare a coupe version, which will be unveiled in 2015 at the Geneva auto show and it will probably be named the CLK. A convertible version is to be seen in 2015 at the Frankfurt auto show and hit the market in 2016, while a station wagon will make its debut next year at the Paris auto show and will hit the European market in late 2014.
Mercedes-Benz is confident that the new CLA compact four-door coupe and the next-generation S-Class flagship sedan, which will debut in September, will boost sales to an all time high this year.
