Mercedes plans to sell more AMG vehicles – may unveil A 45 AMG image

Mercedes-Benz, the German premium carmaker plans to boost its AMG performance-vehicles sales by offering a compact A-Class AMG model in the near feature.

The A 45 AMG will debut in the first quarter next year, marking AMG’s first compact vehicle, the Affalterbach, Germany- based Daimler unit said today. The new vehicle is part of an expansion of AMG, Mercedes’s high-performance brand, to increase sales to more than 30,000 vehicles by 2017 from around 20,000 now.
Apart from launching A 45 AMG, Mercedes AMG will also be increasing their product portfolio of 22 cars to 30 cars by 2017. Of the 8 new AMG offerings, 3 will be in compact size.
The German automaker also plans to increase its total number of AMG centers globally – from 270 now to 350 by 2017.
The upcoming Mercedes A45 AMG
The A 45 AMG will debut in the first quarter next year, marking AMG’s first compact vehicle. The power is expected to come from the a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will output over 300hp.
If these new details are accurate, the AMG-enhanced A-Class will go head-to-head with Audi’s 250kW all-wheel-drive RS 3 hatch, and BMW’s new rear-wheel-drive235kW M135i.
According to Autocar, the RS 3 is exactly what AMG had in mind with the development of its new small hero.
