Buoyed by double-digit delivery growth in both China and Europe, the third largest luxury automaker in the world – Mercedes-Benz – has managed to already achieve the sales level seen for the full period of last year.
The company managed to post a new delivery record for the eleventh consecutive month in 2014, with last month’s sales totaling 150,742 vehicles – a 13% increase year-over-year. Since the start of the year, Mercedes has been growing continuously, and the 11-month tally sees the delivery figures up 12.4% over the same period of 2013 to 1,486,839 units. “We have already topped the total sales of the previous year in November. This will turn 2014 into another record year for Mercedes-Benz,” comments Ola Källenius, the automaker’s marketing and sales chief.
The home region of Europe showed a healthy increase for the brand, up 13.6% last month to a total of 61,060 autos. The company reached record sales in the home market of Germany – up 9.2% and second largest country in the region – the United Kingdom.
The NAFTA region proved a little more difficult, with overall deliveries up 2.3% in November to 38,740 units. The largest market in the region – also the biggest worldwide for Mercedes – the US, saw sales of 34,578 autos – up 0.6%. In Asia, China continued its strong growth, with a 23.1% increase to 26,184 vehicles – a total of 252,819 units (up 30%) have been sold from the beginning of 2014.
