At the Detroit Motor Show, Daimler announced that it’s Mercedes SLS Amg E-Cell electric- powered supercar will enter into production, and will be available from 2013.
Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler said: “The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell is the most technically advanced super sports car in the 125-year history of the automobile, and shows just how fascinating electromobility can be.”
Instead of the conventional 6.3-liter V8 petrol engine, the SLS AMG E-Cell is powered by four synchronous electric motors located at each wheel, together generating a massive boasts 525hp and 649pound-feet of torque.
The SLS AMG E-Cell uses a 400-volt lithium-ion battery pack with an energy content of 48 kWh and a capacity of 40 Ah. As with the case with most electric vehicles, the car benefits from a regenerative braking system.??LED headlights, a wider radiator grille, a revised hood, and a more aggressive rear diffuse will be incorporated into the upcoming SLS AMG E-Cell. It will get an aggressive looks with the 10 spoke alloys, the matte black accents and the extendable front splitter.
