GKN plc, the UK based automotive and aerospace components company on Thursday has appointed former BAE Systems boss Michael Turner CBE as its new chairman.
Turner, the former chief executive of BAE Systems and current chairman of Babcock International, joined the board in September 2009 and was appointed to his current position in May 2010.
Turner, 63 is being lined up to take the role when Roy Brown steps down at GKN’s annual general meeting in May 2012.
“I am delighted to have been appointed chairman of GKN at such an exciting time in the group’s development,” commented Turner.
“I very much look forward to working with my fellow directors and supporting the executive team in continuing the strong progress made in recent years.”
GKN plc has operations in more than 30 countries, around 42,000 employees in subsidiaries and joint ventures and had sales of £5.4 billion in the year ended 31 December 2010. GKN plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: GKN).
Shares were down 1.7 percent on Nov 25, after the announcement.
