The German based automaker BMW is planning to develop a “milder” M lineup in order to compete with the Audi S models.
The new M lineup will be officially presented to the public at the upcoming 2012 Geneva Motor Show and BMW will develop it in order to compete with the Audi S models. The fact that BMW is planning a “lighter” M lineup as a direct competitor to the Audi S models is not a rumor and this has been confirmed by the company’s officials, like the BMW M president Friedrich Nitschke, who has recently announced that the new M models are on the way.
“We focus on some customers who want a little more excitement and performance, but are not willing to give up their car’s practicality. M Performance Automobiles will benefit from the whole BMW experience and expertise. The new range will be the modern expression of the old M535i from 1980, which, even if it wasn’t an M, it was offering more power, a sporty chassis and an improved design. Our goal is to revive this tradition”, said Friedrich Nitschke, the BMW M president.
Even if we don’t have more details on the upcoming BMW M range, the first model to get this treatment might actually be the M diesel version of the X6, but rather than talk nonsense, we’d better wait for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March, when the new BMW M lineup will be officially presented to the public.
