A very special MINI Countryman with an off-road design package will head to the 2013 Dakar Rally in order to support the X-Raid Team during the competition.
MINI may have dropped out of the World Rally Championship recently but that doesn’t mean that the company will stop from promoting the Countryman service vehicles which are supporting the X-Raid Team at the 2013 Dakar Rally and such a vehicle is being highlighted by the British based automaker in a recent press release. According to the company, the MINI Countryman in question will cover 8,000 km (4,971 miles) during the 2013 Dakar Rally.
“Rarely has a partnership had its sights trained so clearly on victory as the X-raid Team / MINI collaboration at the 2012 Dakar. The five MINI ALL4 Racing cars sent out by the X-raid Team demonstrated impressive reliability, speed and endurance as they stormed to the front of the field”, as the carmaker is saying in its official press release.
The MINI Countryman crossovers will get an increased ride height, some special badging, off-road tires, silver colored add-on parts for the side skirts and rear apron and more. The off-road design package is a retrofit option and MINI says it won’t void the original warranty of the crossover. The 2013 Dakar Rally will start on the 5th of January.
