Mini ‘Red Mudder’ unveiled image

Canadian twins, Dean and Dan Caten, better known as the designer duo DSQUARED², have presented the initial sketches of the MINI Countryman crossover they have designed exclusively for the 2011 Life Ball

Judging from sketches released Monday, the Catens’ “Red Mudder” will adopt a more rugged appearance, with headlight guards, steel mesh trim, roof rack and off-road tires and wheels. The car also features the Canadian maple leaf on both doors, plus DSQUARED 2 logos front and rear.

“If we were a car, it would be rugged and robust. Our MINI ‘Red Mudder’ is an accurate reflection of that. With the maple leaf on both doors and the DSQUARED² logo on the front shield and wheels, this is unmistakably our style,” the designers said.

Since 2001, a MINI created by world-renowned designers has been a pivotal element of the Life Ball. Previous designers who have worked with BMW and MINI to create one-offs include Agent Provocateur, Donatella Versace, Diesel, Missoni and Gianfranco Ferré.

Last year’s Life Ball Minis included a 2010 Cooper Countryman designed by Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein, a 2010 Cooper S modified by Diane Von Furstenberg, and a 2010 Cooper Convertible decked out by Kenneth Cole.
