MINI still hasn’t decided whether to offer a production version of the Superleggera Concept.
The MINI brand has been reinvented since BMW took over a few years back and over time we have seen some pretty impressive models coming out from the British marque. But what really stayed within our minds was the Superleggera Concept which was unveiled back in 2014 and it was rumored to hit the assembly line several times by now. According to a recent report, published by Automotive News Europe, the carmaker still hasn’t decided on whether or not to offer such a model.
“We haven’t made a decision yet. It’s an economically challenging project. I keep pushing for it because I think it would be extremely good for the brand”, said the head of MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorcycle brands, Peter Schwarzenbauer, to our source.
A company insider stated that if it will indeed catch the production line, than the MINI Superleggera will be coming out with a starting price of approximately 35,000 euros. Its design is expected to be slightly updated but it won’t be that different from the one of the concept car. The cabin will be maintaining its minimalist design and customers will still get to enjoy the premium leather and the aluminum trim if MINI decides to introduce such a vehicle but judging by the fact that the brand is playing safe, chances are we will not see a production version of it in the near future.
