Mitsubishi ASX to be made in Indonesia

The Japanese based automaker Mitsubishi Motors has recently announced that the ASX model will be manufactured in Indonesia starting this year.

Also known as the Outlander Sport, the Mitsubishi ASX will enter production in Indonesia in 2012, and considering the fact that the fiscal year will end on the 31st of March this year, the model will hit the assembly line starting from April. Mitsubishi Motors Company says that the new ASX will be made at the company’s P/T. Krama Yudha Ratu Motor Factory (KRM), which is the MMC assembler in Indonesia. Manufacturing the ASX in Indonesia means that the company is concentrating its resources on emerging markets.

“Introduction of the Outlander Sport is going to be the beginning of a new history for both KTB (P.T. Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors, the MMC distributor in Indonesia) and MMC”, as the company’s president, Osamu Masuko, recently said in Jakarta.

The fast growing ASEAN market is the reason Mitsubishi Motors Company is concentrating its resources close to its headquarters and emerging markets in the region will become a major pillar for the company’s’ jump in the nearby future. Even if the new Mitsubishi ASX has been officially announced for Indonesia and the model will also be assembled locally, there’s no word on its specifications or other figures yet.
