Mitsubishi Evo’s replacement to get plug-in hybrid powertrain image

The successor of the Mitsubishi Evolution is expected to receive a hybrid powertrain and a Renault platform to ride on, once it will be hitting the market.

Rumors on Mitsubishi developing a replacement of the popular Evo have been around for quite some time but now it seems that we are learning more about the upcoming vehicle. The new generation of the Mitsubishi Evo will be riding on a Renault Megane platform and it will be getting a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The announcement hasn’t been made official yet and according to and its secret sources, the model in question will have “uncompromised handling with state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid EV technology”.

The successor of the Mitsubishi Evo, or its new generation, depending on what name will be used, is believed to get a 1.1 liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine under its hood, the same one from the XR-PHEV Concept, which should be backed up by two electric motors, one in the front and one in the rear, with a battery pack located under the rear seat. The model in question should also get the improved Super All-Wheel Control system. Additional details on the vehicle are limited for the moment and will probably be announced sometimes next year.
