The all-new Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution has been officially revealed ahead of its racing debut at the Pike Peak International Hill Climb, which will be driven by Hiroshi Masuoka, a previous winner of the Dakar Rally.
According to the Japanese based car manufacturer, the all-new Mitsubishi i-MiEV Evolution is actually based on the production version of the vehicle, which has made its debut almost 3 years ago. Mitsubishi says that the i-MiEV Evolution is coming with a prominent read wing and an aerodynamic body kit, along with a tube-frame chassis and that “classic” electric powertrain and all-wheel drive.
“Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will enter two all-electric vehicles (EVs) in the Electric Class of the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb1. MMC will be aiming for victory in the Electric Class with the i-MiEV Evolution, a specially-prepared competition version based on the i all-electric vehicle2. MMC is also entering a regular production i in the event”, as the automaker is saying in its official press release.
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is powered by three electric motors, one in the front and two in the rear, which are generating a total output of 322 horsepower, thanks to the 35 kWh battery, and are sending their power to the all-wheel drive system. The vehicle will be driven by the previous winner of the Dakar Rally, Hiroshi Masuoka.
