Mitsubishi Mirage starts production in Thailand image

The Japanese based automaker Mitsubishi has recently announced that the Mirage compact has started production in Thailand.

According to the car manufacturer, the Mitsubishi Mirage has entered production in Thailand, at the company’s third plant, the Laem Chabang, the largest facility and export hub outside of Japan. The all-new Mitsubishi Mirage has been officially presented to the public at the Bangkok Motor Show last month, after making its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in December, and the model started selling right after, with five variants available, all of them being powered by the 1.2 liter three-cylinder MIVEC engine. The Mitsubishi Mirage global compact car is a best seller in Thailand with more than 15,000 orders taken from it in less than a month.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is powered by a 1.2 liter MIVEC engine, which is developing a total output of 78 PS at 6,000 rpm, with a peak torque of 100 Nm available at 4,000 rpm. The small unit is allowing a low fuel consumption of just 22 km/liter and the model can achieve a top speed of 120 km/h. The Japanese based automaker was planning to sell 2,500 unit of the Mirage in Thailand, where the model is battling with the Perodua Viva, but the orders for Mitsubishi’s compact car have exceeded all expectations.
