Mitsubishi Mirage to be sold in Thailand by the end of March image

Mitsubishi Motors Company has recently announced that the Mirage compact vehicle will be sold in Thailand starting with the 28th of March.

According to the Japanese based automaker, the Mitsubishi Mirage will be offered to other ASEAN countries after it will be launched in Thailand at the end of this month, and after that it will gradually make its way to Japan, Europe and eventually other markets around the world. The Mitsubishi Mirage made its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in December and the model will be manufactured at a new third factory, the MMC Thailand’s Laem Chabang, the largest of the automaker’s factories outside of Japan.

“I am pleased to present the Mirage first in Thailand. The Mirage is an all-new compact car focused on premium fuel efficiency and low CO2 emission, just right for the times where demand for superior fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness are increasing all over the world. I would like to personally thank the Thai government for their promotion of their Eco-car Program, allowing us to chance to bolster our Thai operations. After Thailand, the Mirage will be exported to ASEAN countries, then gradually make its way around the world”, said the MMC president, Osamu Masuko.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is powered by a 1.2 liter MIVEC engine which is allowing a low fuel consumption of 22 km/liter at a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The Japanese car manufacturer is planning to sell 2,500 units of the Mitsubishi Mirage in Thailand, where the model will battle with the Perodua Viva, which is selling from RM37,000 to RM42,000 for the 1.0 liter version.
