Mitsubishi: New Rp 250 Billion Plant by PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors

A new Rp 250 billion (US$27.71 million) plant is to be built by PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors. The company is constructing this new plant for the Outlander Sport, and it is to be finished until the Jakarta Motor Show 2012.

The company, which is the authorized distributor of the commercial vehicles made by Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) and of Japanese cars manufactured by Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC), plans to sell 500 units per month.

But Masuko, Krama Yudha’s president from 1997 to 2002, declared that “I have just inspected the new plant and found that its capacity is enough for a demand from 500 to 1,000 cars per month.”

That is why they are thinking on expanding the plant or make a new one. But this is a decision to be made in the next five years.

The company launched the Colt T100 commercial vehicle 41 years ago, in 1970. This year it celebrates its 2,000,000th car sold in Indonesia, and also the highest yearly sales ever in 2011 (134,416 cars). This added a 26.2% increase compared to the previous year.

Krama Yudha is expected to sell 930,000 cars this year and 1 million in 2013, on its way to become the biggest automotive market in Thailand.
