The Japanese based automaker Mitsubishi has officially pulled the wraps off the new MiEV Evolution III race car, which will be making its racing debut at this year’s Pikes Peak.
Some might say that Mitsubishi is dead these days but the company thinks different and it’s currently ready for the 2014 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The car manufacturer’s motorsport division has officially introduced a pair of MiEV Evolution III race cars which will be competing in the Electric Modified division.
“Pikes Peak is an excellent laboratory for testing our advanced MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) technology. It not only features high elevations but also a range of weather conditions to challenge the performance and reliability of our technology”, said the executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Don Swearingen.
The latest version of the MiEV Evolution race car has increased power from 563 HP to 603 HP, along with new structural materials which are helping it reduce weight and a redesigned tube frame chassis. It has been developed in the wind tunnel and it has an optimized body work and the Super All-Wheel Control system for improved traction control performance and improved handling. The two race cars will be driven by Greg Tracy and Hiroshi Masuoka. Pikes Peak will kick off on the 29th of June.
