Bentley announced at Moscow motor show that production of the Bentley EXP 9 F SUV concept is expected to begin in a few weeks.
Present at the Moscow motor show, Bentley unveiled the new Bentley Continental GT Speed and its marketing chief Kevin Rose declared that the SUV is of utmost importance in the company’s future growth. The automaker’s sales were up 45% in 2011 and 43% this year so far. Bentley expects approval from the Volkswagen Group board, to begin production of the Bentley EXP 9 F SUV.
The Bentley EXP 9 F concept was unveiled earlier this year at the Geneva motor show and its expected price is £150,000. The production flagship will be a W12 petrol version, but customers will also be able to choose a V8 diesel engine or a V6-based plug-in hybrid powertrain. The automaker expects great sales in emerging markets such as Russia and China, but it relies mostly on the US market, home of the full-size SUV.
“We want it to be the most prestigious, fastest and the most expensive SUV money can buy. We will position it well above the Range Rover, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and Audi Q7, the most expensive European SUVs at present,” said Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer.
