The US automaker unfortunately debunked all rumors concerning the apparition of a hardcore Fiesta RS, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t alternatives worthy of our attention.
For example we have the Mountune build. The new generation Fiesta is coming fast so Ford has no reason to R&D a Fiesta RS right now – meaning the most powerful factory-built Fiesta is the ST200. It has 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW) and 214 lb-ft (290 Nm) thanks to a reworked 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine and even comes with an overboost function for another 15 PS (11 kW) and 22 lb-ft (30 Nm) for up to 20 seconds. Mountune meanwhile comes with an even more powerful solution – with the MR265 kit packing no less than 265 PS (261 hp / 194 kW) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm). Thanks to the upgrade, the feisty supermini will jump to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.7 seconds, which is a full second faster than the ST200.
Mountune delivers the oomph using a bespoke turbocharger, a bigger intercooler, a cat-back exhaust system, and by deploying some high-flow rear intake pipework. There are also lesser MP215, MT215, MR230 kits which can be updated to the new standard but getting it from scratch will set you back £4,500 (plus installation costs) in the UK and will be ready in 13 hours of work.
