The Audi RS3 Sportback appears to be among the most popular choices for aftermarket specialists looking to upgrade a high-performance vehicle that is both practical and not overly costly to begin with.
For example ABT squeezed from the turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine which in standard configuration will deliver 367 horsepower (270 kilowatts) a total of 430 hp (316 kW). Then MTM came along and massaged the engine to 502 hp (369 kW). We’re beginning to see the trend here as MR Racing has now come up with the RS3 Sportback sporting up to 535 hp. We’re thinking this is kind of a tuner rivalry – maybe a bet among them to see which is the first to blow the engine off on the dyno… Anyways, MR Racing’s first level kit comes with an ECU remap and a hand-made stainless steel sport exhaust system that will seemingly increase power to 448 hp (330 kW) and 482 pound-feet (653 Newton meters) of torque.
This is the sensible choice of course and MR Racing has the MTM-beating stage 2 kit that will deliver the full extent of tuner expertise to bring the power level to 535 hp (393 kW) and more than 517 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. This is possible thanks to the efficient intercooler, high-pressure fuel pump, and custom turbocharger. The tuner has not advanced performance specifications – but we imagine it’s way faster than a regular RS3 which does the 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 4.3 seconds and will top out at 174 mph (280 km/h). For good measure, the MTM version benchmarks at 3.6 seconds and 186 mph (300 km/h).
