McLaren has officially introduced a new version of the P1 hypercar, called the Alain Prost Edition.
Over these past couple of years, we have seen a lot of examples of the McLaren P1 so whenever a new one pops up, we have to share it. The newest one is called the P1 Alain Prost and it is a special edition of the model which will be displayed this weekend, at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its paint has been inspired, obviously, by the legendary Formula 1 driver Alain Prost’s helmet. It has a whilte finish on its body with blue and red touches.
The interior design is matching the exterior, wearing the same white, red and blue shades, joined by the blue accents, the subtle red components and the white stitching. Under its hood, we can find the same 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine, capable of putting down a total of 727 HP and 719 Nm of torque. This is backed up by an in-house developed electric motor, rated at 176 HP and 260 Nm of torque. The total output produced by the powertrain stands at 903 HP and 978 Nm of torque. It is being sent to the rear-wheel drive through a 7-speed dual-clutch which is allowing the hypercar to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 2.8 seconds and to go up to a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).
