The German tuning specialist has revealed plans to introduce during the 2016 edition of the Swiss event – which is just hours from kicking off – its latest feature called the Amarok V8 Desert Edition.
The aftermarket specialist has also called DIRKS to help it develop this special model, which comes packing a two-tone exterior hue and looks readily equipped to tackle any rough ground. It has a front brush guard, extended fender flares, and 20-inch BBS alloy wheels that are wrapped in Cooper off-road tires. We also noticed the side steps, a roll cage, and blacked out badging. While the exterior is very rugged and looks menacing enough to use it as a zombie-apocalypse bashing vehicle, the cabin has a different treatment in store for its owner. The upscale interior comes with leather and Alcantara upholstery and the tuning company has also spared no expense by fitting carbon fiber trim, auxiliary gauges, and an infotainment system with GPS navigation system and a television function.
Menacing looks aside, the model also has the power to support its claims. Under the hood sits the 4.2-liter TDI V8 engine that comes with 410 horsepower and 685 pound-feet of torque. It has been mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission for a 0-62 miles per hour sprint in six seconds and a maximum speed of 149 mph. The performance figures are kept in check by the right handling balance, assisted by the coilover suspension and high-performance braking system with 16-inches up front and 14-inches in the rear discs. This bespoke Volkswagen Amarok V8 Desert Edition is also very exclusive in terms of pricing – MTM is asking no less than 199,143.92 euros ($217,514.95) for it.
