NASCAR driver Danica Patrick files for divorce image

America’s most famous female racing driver has filed for divorce from husband Paul Hospenthal, according to a report from Sporting News.

Danica Patrick filed the suit on January 3 in the Superior Court of Arizona, citing a “irretrievably broken” marriage with her husband, Paul Hospenthal, a physical therapist.

In late November last year, Patrick announced on Facebook that she and her husband had decided to divorce. “I am sad to inform my fans that after 7 years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that’s how we will remain moving forward,” Danica Patrick wrote on her fan page.

According to the documents, the couple has a prenuptial agreement and neither side is asking for alimony. Danica Patrick is worth a reported $18 million. She married Hospenthal – who is 17-years older – in 2005. They met in 2002 when he was treating her for a hip injury. They have no children.
