Air-cooled Porsche 911s are becoming increasingly collectible items – and thus with prices to match, but those only willing to spend a six-figure sum instead of seven and some, here’s a – relative – bargain.

McLaren Scottsdale is offering this water-cooled 996 with an asking price of $299,900 – and while it may not be the greatest generation of the 911, the model features a wide arrange of enhancements. This is because it started its life as a 2002 GT2 that has been morphed into a Veyron-touting 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts) monster, packing more than twice the punch (456 hp) it had when it was new. Under the back bonnet the same twin-turbo six-cylinder engine resides – and to match the oomph the car also has RSR performance brakes and suspension components, a custom-built sequential shift gearbox, JZR shocks, and a Motec dash, among plenty.
