The North American based automaker Ford has recently announce the production start of the new 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine in Craiova, Romania.
The newest EcoBoost engine is entering production in Craiova, Romania, after being shown just a few weeks ago. The unit has a 1.5 liter displacement and it will power several models in Ford’s lineup, including the Mondeo in Europe or its over-seas brother, the Fusion. The brand new EcoBoost, with its 1.5 liter displacement, is joining another EcoBoost unit in the Craiova, Romania facility, the 2012 Engine of the Year, the 1.0 liter three-cylinder. The same production line will “give birth” to both engines.
The brand new 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine which is produced in Romania has 1,498 cc and it has the Twin VCT technology (variable cam timing), a turbocharger, direct injection and it has four valves per cylinder (16V). The compression rate is 10.22:1. The new engine will be able to produce a total output of 180 HP and a generous torque figure of 240 Nm, which is impressive for a petrol engine. The 1.5L EcoBoost meets the Euro 6 emission standards.
