New AMG Sport range from Mercedes-Benz image

Mercedes-Benz launches sub brand to compete with performance divisions from Audi and BMW. The new C450 AMG Sport is one of the first models to arrive on the auto market.

The new AMG Sport models are set to get exclusive interior and exterior design and upgraded engines to challenge the performance orientated models from Audi Sport and BMW M Performance line-ups. They will also use uniquely calibrated chassis tuning and electronics. Although not in every model, Mercedes-Benz plans that its upcoming AMG Sport models come with the choice of petrol or diesel engines.
What will differentiate them from the standard Mercedes-Benz models are the widened tracks that are similar to those used by full-blown AMG models. The new AMG Sport line-up will have models from A, C, E and S-class line-ups with variants based on GL- and M-, GLK- and GLA-class.

One of the first vehicles from Mercedes Benz’s new AMG Sport models is the C450 AMG Sport. It is planned to be out later this year, running a tuned version of the C400’s turbocharged 3.0-litre engine that is claimed to produce 367 BHP. That is 34 BHP more than the standard C400, but over 100 BHP short of the upcoming C63 AMG, the other new model running a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 power plant. Mercedes-Benz has also planned for 2015 an AMG Sport variant of their new BMW X6 to rival the M-class coupe.
