BMW launched the new 1 Series in the UK today. Prices start at £19, 375 otr for a BMW 116i ES.
World largest premium automaker BMW on Friday announced the availability for the UK market of the new 1 Series. BMW’s smallest model will add more than 3 inches in length and about 1 inch in width, allowing for a roomier interior and more trunk space, the automaker said.
The extra space is largely down to the longer wheelbase – 30mm does not sound like a lot, but it makes a noticeable difference in this case. Legroom is up by 20mm and there is 10% more boot space.
The petrol engines will come in two 1.6-liter configurations, producing 100kW and 220Nm in 116i form, while the 118i will offer 125kW and 250Nm of torque. In diesel form, the BMW 118d gets a 2.0 litre turbodiesel engine, producing 105kW and 320Nm of torque.
The new BMW 1 Series goes on sale in the UK on 17 September 2011, with a choice of three diesel and two petrol engines. Prices start at £19,375 otr for a BMW 116i ES.
