A new rendering of the upcoming BMW X2 is showing us how the crossover may look like once it will roll off the assembly line.
BMW is getting ready to launch its third sporty SUV, after the X6 and the X4, the obvious X2, which is just around the corner. The model in question has been already confirmed for production, according to a recent report, and it will be similar in design to its larger brothers. However, this will be based on the new X1 generation which means that it will be sharing its platform, its interior design and its engine lineup. The main difference will be the sloping roofline and probably some tweaks made to the front and rear fascias and the cabin.
The upcoming BMW X2 will be sportier than the X1 and it will get a 5-door body style. The mechanicals and the main looks of the interior are expected to be shared with the compact crossover, along with the engine lineup which is also expected to include a highly economical 3-cylinder unit, along with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing about 300 HP, which will be taking on the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG and the Audi RS Q3. The engines will be connected to a 6-speed manual or to an 8-speed automatic and FWD Will be offered as standard and AWD as an option. Chances are this will be unveiled, as a concept, during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, in September.
