Ford has recently announced its plans to produce a new EcoBoost engine in Romania, Craiova, and the model will be equipped onto the new Mondeo generation.
The new generation of the Ford Mondeo was rumored to get a new four-cylinder 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine in some markets, like the European, Chinese and even the United States, where the model is being sold as the Fusion. But those rumors have just became real because the North American based automaker has confirmed the new EcoBoost engine for the Mondeo / Fusion, and this will be officially presented to the public during the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, next week.
Ford was cheap on providing technical details on the brand new 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine but the company said that the unit will cut down CO2 emissions and it will improve the fuel consumption by up to 20 percent compared to the engines it will replace. The 1.5 liter EcoBoost is coming with four-cylinders inline and its supercharged, getting direct injection and variable distribution. The brand new Ford EcoBoost engine will be produced in Craiova, Romania. Additional details on the subject remain unknown for the moment and they will probably be announced during the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show.
