The North American based automaker Ford is planning to introduce the new Ford Escort on the Old Continent too, besides China.
After it was officially presented to the public during the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, just a few days ago, in a world premiere, the Ford Escort Concept is ending up in our news once again, this time with an announcement. According to the guys at Auto Express, who have talked with a Ford insider, the final production version of the Ford Escort might be offered in Europe too.
“There’s certainly been internal discussions about it [bringing it to Europe]. I for one would love to see it over here [in Europe]. There is definitely a place in the market for a lower-cost car to sit under the Focus. The key would be doing it without being seen to make the Ford brand any less desirable”, as the insider told Auto Express.
Our source is also saying that the Ford Escort hasn’t been intended as a China-only vehicle, as Mark Ovenden, the new Ford UK chairman and MD said. Ford didn’t announce any important details on the new Escort Concept car, despite the model has been officially presented to the public during the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, but until more will be known on the model, you can check out the photo gallery posted below.
