Ford is planning to introduce the new Mondeo generation in 2013, with the model being based on the Evos Concept revealed earlier this year.
After being officially presented at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ford Evos Concept will have siblings in the form of the popular vehicle Mondeo, with the new generation of the model being based on the Concept. The new Ford Mondeo will still be offered in three body versions, sedan, hatchback and wagon.
The future generation of the Ford Mondeo will have a difficult job, continuing what the current Mondeo did, which is becoming one of the most successful cars of the company’s lineup, with over 70.000 units sold in the first ten months of this year. Even if there’s no official word on the upcoming Ford Mondeo yet, the model is expected to be based on the Evos Concept, with very similar lines. The 2013 Ford Mondeo will be powered by petrol EcoBoost engines of 1.6 and 2.0 liter displacements and, on the European auto market, turbodiesel engines will also be used.
As a reminder, the Ford Evos concept used the same petrol-electric powertrain as the C-Max Energy Hybrid, which is scheduled to go on sale in 2013, taking its power from a 2.0 liter engine and an electric motor, combined by a system which makes the two work together or separately to maximize efficiency, giving the Concept a range up to 500 miles. The Ford Evos Concept is 4.5 meters long, 1.97 meters wide and 1.36 meters high.
