The German based automaker Audi is planning to launch the new generation of the A4 next year, when the model will get a new design.
The 2014 Audi A4 is getting ready to receive a new radical look, which should make it a serious competitor for the BMW 3-Series F30, once again, and for the upcoming 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The model’s exterior design will be updated and highlights will include the slimmer headlights, the six-sided grille, the larger air intakes, the distinctive LED light clusters and some other tweaks
The new generation of the Audi A4 will be 100 kg lighter and it will ride on the advanced MLB platform made by the VW Group, which is actually the bigger brother of the MQB used on the new Golf, A3 or the Leon. The same platform will also be used for the new Touareg generation, in 2016. The 2014 Audi A4 will also receive a hybrid version with front-wheel drive, and another one, with a more potent e-quattro system, is also in the works, with a petrol engine up front and two electric motors on the rear axle.
The new S4 will also see some dramatic changes, but it will be powered by a modified version of the current V6 turbo, which should develop approximately 350 BHP. The Audi RS4 Avant is expected to drop the 4.2 liter V8 in order to adopt a turbocharged V6 with almost 500 BHP. Additional details on the new generation of the Audi A4 are limited for the moment and will be announced close to its debut.
