The new generation of the Audi R8 has been recently caught on camera while it was being tested on the track.
With the replacement of the Lamborghini Gallardo already unveiled, the Huracan, the new generation of the Audi R8 is just months away from going official, as the sports car will share the platform and most of its components with its Italian cousin. The model in question has been caught on camera by our spy photographers and despite its camouflage, its main lines are visible. We can notice the more angular style and the modern design while its cabin is said to be similar to one of the TT concept car.
The 2015 Audi R8 will be produced using lightweight materials and this should drop its weight, increase its performance and improve its fuel consumption. The same mid-engine platform from the Huracan will be used and when speaking about its engine lineup, rumors are saying that a twin turbo V8 will make its way onto the model, along with a naturally aspirated V10, probably the same one from the Italian supercar. A plug-in hybrid version is also expected. The transmission will probably be an S-tronic dual clutch seven-speed automatic but a six-speed manual will also be offered, for enthusiasts.
