The upcoming Audi R8 will not be offered with the V8 engine as the model in question will only become available with the upgraded 5.2 liter V10.
If the 2016 Audi R8 is on your mind and you were hoping to buy the V8 engine version, and for no obvious reason, healing of course, you will be in for a big disappointment because this will be dropped from the lineup. According to a recent report, published by the guys from Motoring, the model in question will only become available with an upgraded version of the 5.2 liter V10, the same one used on its Italian cousin, the Lamborghini Huracan, but don’t expect the 602 HP because the German vehicle is believed to pack approximately 570 HP.
The Lamborghini Huracan is packing a total of 602 HP (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque from the 5.2 liter V10 engine, which is allowing it to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds and to go all the way up to 325 km/h (202 mph). The brand new Audi R8 is also believed to pack a hybrid version but instead of using the above mentioned 4.2 liter V8, this will be bringing a V6 or even a smaller four-cylinder unit, which will be backed up by one or more electric motors. However, this variant is still at least three years away. Sadly we have no more details on the new R8 but these might be released over the next few weeks, probably during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
