The new generation of the Audi S3 has been revealed by the carmaker ahead of its public debut on the 27th of September 2012.
After pulling the wraps off the 2013 Audi A3 three-door at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in a world premiere and revealing the new Audi A3 Sportback just a day before writing this article, the German based automaker has decided to show us how the new generation of the Audi S3 looks like so the first images and details with the model have been released.
The most significant change of the new Audi S3 can be found under the hood, where the advanced turbocharged 2.0 liter direct injection four-cylinder gasoline engine, which was developed from scratch as part of the EA888 unit family, can be found. The engine is producing a total output of 296 HP at 5,500 rpm and it has a peak torque of 280 lb-ft, available between 1,800 and 5,500 rpm.
Audi says that the new generation of the S3 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.1 seconds for the S-tronic gearbox version, while for the manual transmission, the hatchback sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds. Top speed has been limited to 155 mph and the model is burning 34.1 mpg (European test cycle) for the manual and 33.6 mpg for the dual-clutch version. Additional details will be released next week, during the Paris Motor Show.
