The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz is currently testing out the second generation of the GLK, which will be dubbed the GLC once it will be hitting the market.
With its bigger brother, the ML, getting a new generation, and with a brand new smaller brother introduced, the GLA, the GLK is now getting ready for its second generation. The model in question has been recently caught on camera by our spy photographers while it was being tested out and the most significant change will be its name, as the company will sell it as the GLC, once it will be launched.
The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLC will be riding on the same platform as the W205 C-Class and it is expected to get similar engines too. These will be including the 2.1 liter diesels, with outputs ranging between 136 HP and 204 HP, while over-seas, the model will be getting the 2-liter turbo and also a V6 variant. For the first time ever, the GLC will be gaining a true AMG version, which will be packing the 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine from the new AMG GT and C63 AGM, but this will be toned down for the crossover. The new GLC is expected to be unveiled sometimes in 2015.
