The French based automaker Renault is planning to introduce the new generation of the Megane later on this year, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The future generation of the Renault Megane will hit the market probably in late 2013 or in early 2014, and the model will come in several body styles, like the current one, including the five-door hatchback, the three-door “Coupe” and the estate. The Coupe version of the new Renault Megane generation will spawn a Renaultsport variant. The new Renault Megane is carrying over the same face as other models in the lineup and it will still be a rival to the VW Golf, Ford Focus or Peugeot 308.
The 2014 Renault Megane is expected to receive the new 0.9 TCe three-cylinder petrol engine, which is producing a total output of 90 HP, and it’s used on models like the Renault Twingo, Renault Clio or Dacia Logan and Dacia Sandero, amongst others. This will be a direct rival to the Ford Focus’ 1.0 liter Ecoboost unit. The 1.2 TCe 120 petrol, with the new EDC transmission, is also expected to be used on the model. The same EDC gearbox will be fitted onto the Renaultsport version too. Additional details on the model remain unknown for the moment.
