The new generation of the Skoda Octavia has recently arrived in India, where the model has been officially presented to the public during a special event held by the carmaker.
The Czech based automaker Skoda is getting ready to launch the new generation of the Octavia in India. The model in question has already made its local debut, where it was well received by its future customers. However, prices for the model haven’t been announced just yet so in order to find out how much money you will have to pay for the 2014 Octavia in India, you will probably have to wait a few more weeks.
“The ‘Octavia’ model line launched Skoda in the country 12 years ago and has enjoyed a cult status in India ever since. The Octavia instantly became a game changer in the segment and revolutionized the Indian automotive industry. Since then Skoda has come a long way in the Indian market and the Octavia has always been the heart of our brand. Now, with the new-generation Octavia, which will be introduced in India during the festival season, we promise all of this and much more”, said the Skoda India managing director, Sudhir Rao.
The brand new 2014 Skoda Octavia is riding on the MQB platform, which was also used by the Volkswagen Group on models like the Golf 7, the new Audi A3, the new Seat Leon and so on. The model is 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider than the previous generation, known as the Laura in India, and the wheelbase now stands at 2,686 mm. As for the engine lineup, Indians will be able to order a 1.8 liter TSI petrol with 177 HP, or a 2.0 liter TDI diesel, with 141 HP. The petrol burner will come with a seven-speed DSG while the diesel will get a six-speed DSG.
