The Skoda Superb, in its upcoming generation, has been caught on camera once more, by our spy photographers.
The 2016 Skoda Superb is seeing some aggressive marketing these days as the model continues to be teased in official spy shots and our spy photographers continue to provide us with images with the camouflaged model too. The new generation of the flagship Skoda model will be riding on an increased MQB platform, the same one used on the new Volkswagen Passat too, and it will be larger than the current model. Thanks to the use of the MQB, the Superb will have access to all powertrains used on the Golf and on the Passat.
These basically include just about anything from the 1.4 liter to the 2.0 liter units, producing between 120 HP and 280 HP. The most expensive version of the current Superb will drop its 3.6 liter V6 engine in favor of a 2.0 liter turbo, similar to the one found on the Seat Leon Cupra. This will get four-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG transmission. A hybrid version of the model is also expected, as this will use a 1.4 TSI unit and an electric motor, for a combined output of 218 HP. This will be the first Skoda production model capable of running on electricity. Rumor has it that the new Superb will be shown in Geneva or Frankfurt, next year.
