A new rendering with the next generation of the Volkswagen Phaeton has recently hit the web and it might provide us with a first look into the luxury cruiser.
The German based automaker Volkswagen seems to have forgotten all about its flagship sedan, the Phaeton, as it is currently focusing on other smaller and cheaper vehicles in its lineup. But considering the fact that the new generation of the Volkswagen Passat has been recently introduced, and that the Bentley lineup will soon suffer some significant changes, the Phaeton is being placed into the spotlights indirectly.
The image posted above represents a rendering and it has been signed by Theophilus Chin, who has envisioned the luxurious vehicle as basically a larger Passat. It remains to be seen whether the new model will be anything like this. The Phaeton has been in production since 2002 and it has a longitudinal front engine and permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive. It is related to the Bentley Continental GT and Continental Flying Spur and it has a choice of three petrol engines and two diesels, along with two transmissions, both automatic, signed by ZF. The model has received two facelifts, one in 2007 and one in 2010.
