The new generation of the Volkswagen Golf R is already in the pipeline and once the model will be ready for its future customers, it will produce an impressive 300 HP.
The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG may be the fastest hot hatch on the market, but let’s not forget that the VW Golf has a long tradition in this segment and that the R version is getting ready to storm dealerships. Once the 2014 Volkswagen Golf R will hit the market, the model is rumored to get an impressive 300 HP (224 kW) out if its 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine.
This is actually the same unit from the Audi S3, which has been detuned, and which will get 60 Nm of torque more to a total of 380 Nm. The new generation of the Volkswagen Golf R will be more economical and faster than the outgoing version and, when equipped with the DSG transmission, the model will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. The Volkswagen Golf R, in its new generation, will come in two body styles, three-door and five-door hatchback, and the model is expected to be officially presented to the public during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, in September.
