Our spy photographers have managed to snap the new generation of the Volkswagen Passat undergoing testing in a location in Southern Europe.
The German based automaker Volkswagen is currently working on the development of a new Passat generation and even if there have been only a few years since the model has been facelifted, the company will align the model with new technologies, a new design and an entirely new platform. The images posted below represent the first test mules of the Passat Sedan and Passat Wagon and they have been caught on camera by our spy photographers in Southern Europe, while they were being tested.
Rumor has it that underneath that new body, the upcoming VW Passat generation will ride on the MQB modular platform, which is also found on models like the new VW Golf 7, the new Audi A3 or the new Seat Leon, amongst others, which will receive a longer wheelbase. This means that production costs of the new Passat generation will be kept low and this will be reflected into the car’s final price. The brand new VW Passat will be officially presented to the public during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and it will hit showrooms right after its public debut.
